Omnichannel Processes

For your customers, store, shop and app are one purchase. Inside the company they are separate processes with their own inventory and their own ownership.

Click & Collect therefore stands or falls on the question of which warehouse ships, who owns the stock, and what happens at the POS when the item isn't there. These are questions of organisation before they become questions of technology.

Working them out with you is the first part of our work. The second is building the platform where store, warehouse, shop and app come together.

What belongs together, and what stays separate?

Which answer comes out in your case depends on your organisation. What we look for is the same in every project. We have built these handovers for retailers with store networks, among them Segmüller and porta Möbel.

  • A promise is only as good as the stock behind itAvailability displays, Click & Collect, ship-from-store – each of these promises rests on a stock figure that store and head office trust equally. So omnichannel starts with the question of who commits to which figure and owns it.
  • The process decides before the technology startsWho picks, who books the revenue, what happens when an online order is returned in the store. No platform answers these questions. We work them out with you before anything is built – otherwise you get software for a process that does not yet exist in the organisation.
  • The app needs a jobSelling, building loyalty, or driving customers into the store – that determines whether a dedicated app is worth it and what it should look like. We settle the job before anyone talks technology.

Stages that pay for themselves

We start from the handovers that are causing trouble today, not from a target picture. That defines the cut: which process first, which group of stores as the pilot, what deliberately waits.

Each stage is cut so that it lands in day-to-day operations before the next one begins. Your budget stays manageable, your decisions stay reversible – and the store notices the difference before the next project starts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Multichannel means you have several channels. Omnichannel means the channels are connected. Stock is visible across channels, the customer is recognised everywhere, and a purchase in one channel can be returned in another. The difference lies in the processes behind it, not in the number of channels.

Usually yes. An order management system decides across channels which warehouse or store fulfils an order and keeps stock in real time. Whether you need one depends on how many fulfilment locations you have – with a single central warehouse the answer looks different than with 40 stores.

With the stock question. As long as store and head office see different figures, no promise to the customer holds – neither availability displays nor Click & Collect. Only then do we decide which process is changed first.

The app's job decides that. Should it sell, build loyalty, or bring customers into the store? That determines which capabilities are needed – and therefore whether a web app is enough or a native app justifies the effort. We keep to that order deliberately.

When the store uses the new process in day-to-day work and the customer needs no explanation for it. That is why we cut stages so a group of stores starts as the pilot – within weeks it shows whether the process lands in operations.
