From Search Optimization to Scalable Commerce Platform

foobar Agency accompanied the transformation in several stages: from a targeted entry via search integration with Algolia, through a complete storefront rebuild with Next.js on Spryker Commerce, to ongoing development as a long-term partner.
Situation & Vision
As one of Germany’s leading furniture retailers, Segmüller faced a challenge born from its own eCommerce success: rising expectations from digitally savvy customers demanded a better online experience. The existing platform could no longer deliver the required performance, flexibility and scalability. In particular, search could not keep pace with requirements.
The goal: create a seamless, high-performance digital customer journey that takes online commerce to the next level. This meant renewing the technology foundation and laying the groundwork for a future-proof, scalable architecture – while maintaining high quality standards.
Our Approach
The collaboration began with a concrete lever: search. By integrating Algolia, we fundamentally redesigned search performance – with a direct impact on conversion and customer satisfaction.
Building on this, we completely rebuilt the frontend: a modern Next.js storefront as a composable layer on Spryker Commerce. We also introduced flexible campaign management for promotions, enabling Segmüller to manage campaigns quickly and independently.
Since then, we have supported Segmüller as a permanent partner in ongoing platform development: feature development, performance optimization, quality assurance, and technical support in day-to-day operations.
Results & Outlook
The new platform architecture gives Segmüller the foundation to develop digital commerce flexibly and scalably. The improved search performance directly impacts conversion and customer satisfaction – measurably and sustainably.
