Gartner Magic Quadrant Digital Commerce 2025: Hilfe oder Bullshit? – Video

Show Notes

The new 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Digital Commerce is out. LinkedIn explodes, vendors celebrate themselves, slides get rebuilt. But for 90% of eCommerce projects in mid-sized companies in the DACH region, the MQ is at most 20% of your decision basis, and often more of a political fig leaf.

In this video, I put the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Digital Commerce into context from the perspective of CIOs, CDOs and eCommerce leads. What does the quadrant really measure? Where are its biases and limits? And how do you use it sensibly when you are thinking about replatforming, a new eCommerce platform or composable architectures?

What the video covers
The 3 biggest thinking errors around the Gartner MQ: "Leader means shortlist", "Not in it means dead" and "Two millimeters further right means much better"
Why the MQ is a gatekeeper for US enterprises, and for mid-sized companies in the DACH region often just a political building block in the presentation
How the 2025 Magic Quadrant shifted compared to 2024, and what that means for Shopify, Shopware, SAP, Salesforce, Adobe, commercetools, Spryker, Intershop and others
What the MQ does not reflect: the partner ecosystem in DACH, TCO, project risk, implementation quality
Agentic commerce vs. reality: why the hype is already raging in the slides but barely appears in the analysts' evaluation criteria
My 5-step playbook for integrating the MQ sensibly into your system selection without letting it dominate you

Who is the video for?
CIOs, CDOs and Heads of eCommerce in mid-sized companies in the DACH region
Decision-makers facing a replatforming or an RfP for a new digital commerce platform
Vendors, agencies and consultants who have to explain the MQ to their clients without marketing nonsense
