As a Quality Assurance Engineer (m/f/d) at foobar Agency, you are responsible for ensuring that the quality of our digital products and services meets the highest standards throughout the development and delivery process. You design and develop our QA strategy and test approach for medium to large projects, support both manual and automated testing, and promote a lived quality culture in all phases of product development.

You work closely with product, development, UX/design, and other relevant stakeholders, define acceptance criteria, establish reliable test cycles, and ensure transparent reporting on quality, risks, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

QA Strategy & Quality in Project: You develop and establish QA strategies and test concepts for digital products – pragmatically and tailored to the respective project context. You work closely with product, development, and UX to clearly define quality goals, acceptance criteria, and test scope. You bring quality aspects early to refinements and conceptualization phases, strengthening a shift-left mindset.

Test Planning, Test Cycles & Release Readiness: You plan, coordinate, and conduct test cycles (e.g., regression, UAT, smoke tests) – manually and automatically. You ensure test and release readiness across all relevant environments (DEV/QA/STAGE/PROD) including preparation of appropriate test data. You support acceptance, coordinate go-live checks, and ensure stable handover to operations and further development.

Test Automation & Tooling: You build or further develop test automation (e.g., with Cypress, Playwright) and pragmatically integrate it into existing delivery workflows. You maintain test cases, cover end-to-end scenarios across web and API routes, and ensure long-term maintainability. You work with common tools like JIRA, Xray, Qase, or comparable solutions for managing tests, bugs, and traceability.

Transparency, Reporting & Stakeholder Management: You make quality visible through risk assessments, status updates, KPIs, and clear recommendations. You communicate early if quality, stability, or scope are at risk and support informed decision-making. You represent quality aspects to the team and stakeholders – for clarity instead of surprises shortly before release.

Must-haves: Multiple years of experience in quality assurance or test management, ideally in digital or software project environments; Demonstrable experience in establishing QA strategies and test concepts in projects; Practical experience in test automation (e.g., Cypress, Playwright, or similar tools); Secure handling of test and project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Xray, Qase, or similar solutions); Good understanding of agile working practices and collaboration in cross-functional teams; Structured, conscientious, and solution-oriented working style – even with complex, not fully defined requirements; Ability to assess and prioritize risks and derive pragmatic measures; Clear communication in German and English (at least B2)

Nice-to-haves: Experience in the area of internationalization and localization (multilingual products); Knowledge of common accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and first practical contact; Experience testing complex business logic (e.g., commerce, checkout, promotions, country-specific rules); Experience in performance and end-to-end testing
