What you can expect to work on

Your Tasks

As part of the KIONET-AI project, we are developing an intelligent assistant system to support therapy decisions for children with severe cancer diagnoses. The system combines medical knowledge, patient-specific data, and current research findings – based on state-of-the-art generative AI technologies. We collaborate closely with leading university hospitals and medical experts.

As a working student, you’ll join our interdisciplinary development team and support us flexibly in one or more of the following areas:

Development and testing of LLM-based research and decision-support systems
Building and maintaining data processing pipelines (text data, medical literature, patient data)
Supporting prompt engineering and quality assurance for AI outputs
Contributing to the integration of multi-agent systems for automating complex tasks (e.g., literature analysis, fact-checking)
Collaborating on prototypes and user interaction design

What we expect you to bring in

Your Profile

You are enrolled (from 5th semester Bachelor or Master) in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Bioinformatics, or a related quantitative field
You have good Python skills and some hands-on experience with LLMs like ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude – also programmatically
You are interested in generative AI, NLP, multi-agent systems, and RAG
You work independently, structured, and enjoy collaboration in a team
You meet the legal criteria for working students in Germany (i.e., properly enrolled, not on leave of absence, exams not yet completed, eligible for at least 6 months)

Nice to have:

Experience with LLM and agent frameworks such as Hugging Face Transformers, LangChain, DSPy, or CrewAI
Knowledge of LLM-based agent systems or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
Interest or prior experience with medical data or scientific literature

What else you should know:

You’ll work 15–20 hours/week, depending on your schedule
The position runs for at least 5 months, ideally longer
We work in a hybrid setup – remote and in-person (at least 1 day/week in Munich)
We communicate mostly in English, but German is a big plus
